Happy Holidays, indeed!

Wow...where does the time go?  One minute the girls are sleeping soundly and I am getting a round of bottles ready, then someone wakes up, then the other, then they poop, then they sleep again, and then...the next thing I know, the day is done!  Well, that was the first few weeks after Riley got home...now we have some highlights to add to our day!  They can finally see clearly close up!!!  They can see mobiles and rattles and toys, oh my!  It is a whole new world!  They also smile!  They are so close to doing it on command, but it is still pretty random.  They are doing very well at holding their heads up and they look as if they want to crawl away, but we still have quite awhile before that stage.  As we approach the big 3 month mark, we now need to rewind and look at their development based on their adjusted age.  In other words, whatever Morgan and Riley are doing is compared to an infant 2 months younger, so they are now at the development stage of a 1 month old.  It isn't too hard to get used to since they chose an even 2 months to be born early, but they definitely are growing out of a really bored stage...a stage where they simply couldn't be entertained.  They now respond to reading, singing, touching, and dancing!  I absolutely love that they are staying awake a little longer each day!  We have had a fabulous month and ended 2009 with a bang!  Here are some highlights!

They are becoming professional snugglers and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

They can play...well, they are getting there!  They now know that something is above their head!

The girls had a fabulous Christmas Eve with the Beresford's!
They got spoiled rotten...highlighted by their first set up Golf Clubs!
Auntie Ally watched the girls while we unwrapped all their goodies before 35 people arrived to celebrate!  It was a great evening and the girls loved it!

The girls woke up Christmas morning to lots more surprises and got to snuggle with Mommy all morning while watching my favorite Christmas Cartoons!

They had a special visit from Santa Claus!!!  Morgan was amazed while Riley slept!
It was such a treat! Thanks Santa!!!

Grandma Marilyn and Unkie Dave came to celebrate the rest of the day and spoil the girls!  These girls are SOOOOO loved!
We enjoyed seeing so many wonderful families and introducing the girls to more family and friends!  We are so blessed to have so many loving people in our lives!  Happy Holidays!  We can't wait to share the highlights of 2010 with you...the laughing, crawling, walking, and everything in between!

Bliss...absolute bliss!

The definition of bliss is "profound joy and happiness". I have a few things to add to that definition.  How about the feeling of holding your own babies and rocking in a chair at home with both of them snuggled close on a blistering cold day?  Or how about watching your little angels interact and touch each other and knowing in your heart that they have had a relationship with each other throughout this entire experience.
We have experienced the ultimate bliss since getting our girls home and WE LOVE IT!!!
We still are still stunned by our twin girls!  Not just any twins...two beautiful, healthy girls!  Life is great!  I was sitting in my rocking chair this morning, staring at Riley and reminiscing about the road to making it home from the hospital.  It is so fun having the whole family around!  The girls have settled in beautifully.  They have multiple sleep options ranging from cribs to bouncy chairs, but they totally prefer to snuggle with Mommy and Daddy. Ahhhh..."Mom"...I like that word.  I signed my first Christmas tag..."Mom"...and teared up!  I am a mom!  It really feels like it now!
I was told by a random stranger a few months ago that if I am organized then I will have no problem with twins.  Well, I am not organized.  Oh well!  I am all about flying by the seat of my pants!  One person who has given me a ton of advice, Erin and her fabulous triplets (Happy Birthday kiddos), is very organized!   I keep remembering her tips and tricks...attempting to instill them in our daily routine...and they seem to go by the wayside by the end of the day.  But I am learning quickly that it is OKAY!  Some nights we are up every 30 minutes for feeding, cuddling, and diapers.  Then they will randomly sleep for 4 hours.  Then they will stay up for 5 hours until they are so tired they don't know what to do with themselves.  If one day could be even close to the same as the last, I could see a routine in sight, but we are still in the honeymoon stage.  As of now, nights are no different than days.  The only difference is that I am tired at nights so when I need to get up, it is painful.  Once I am up, though, it is a party!  We are so in love with these girls!  Here are some highlights!

Check out Riley and her fabulous bottle skills!

We ventured out as a family to get the Christmas Tree. Of course, the girls decided
it was time to eat so they got a feeding on the road!

The girls got to meet their Great Grandma Agnes!!!

Riley     &        Morgan
We cheer for the Huskies on the weekends...
it is time to teach them about Husky Basketball!

At our first double doctor appointment, Riley had a great
check-up while Morgan chilled out on the table
patiently waiting for her turn.

Home sweet home!
