The Beresford Girls: June 2010

Well, here we are...the girls are 8 months old, I am finished teaching for the summer and the year, and we are seeing more changes each and every day! It is virtually impossible for me to catch up on the last few months, but I will try my best with pictures and comments. Morgan and Riley are doing amazing! They are growing big and strong and they have reached such a fun age. The girls still love bath time the most of all! They are eating solids and slowly getting the hang of it! They aren't fans of anything even remotely chunky yet! They are both sitting up with slight assistance and rolling both directions! We have teeth all over the place and we still wake up for a middle of the night bottle (thank you teething)! I can't believe that we survived 18 weeks of school! Mike took care of the kids each Monday and Tuesday! He even started a business in his spare time! He has built an unbelievable bond with the girls! My mom packed up her life each week and came in for 4 days to take care of the girls (and me, of course)! She planned unbelievable meals, brought diapers and other baby essentials, and ALWAYS looked forward to arriving! We are so blessed to have had such amazing help during this time! This girls love their Grandma SOOO much! She sings, cuddles, feeds, reads, plays, and laughs with the girls! It was such a relief to leave them in such good hands! Unkie Dave visited weekly to help out with the girls and the cooking! I really miss that routine! I have to admit it, though...I LOVE BEING HOME WITH THE GIRLS!!! If you hadn't heard, I am taking next year off. It makes financial sense for 2 zero-year olds...childcare is a bit expensive. Also, let's face it, my job is to be with kids all day, so I might as well be with my own for a year. I am getting used to the new routine. I thrive on a schedule, so I need to make a diligent effort to stay busy or I could possibly go crazy! We go on daily walks for about an hour or so with Kona! We stop at the park and go on the swings! We still meet with our twins group twice a month. I am going to begin tutoring all summer. We will also be planning endless playdates, field trips, and regular visits to Sequim to see my mom! Anyways, time for an update on those girls! I will have Mike add some silly videos soon!

Morgan is now over 17 pounds... she has quadrupled her birth weight! She is so incredibly strong and mobile! She rolls all over the place with ease. She loves the challenge of rolling herself over in the most awkward places! She giggles all the time and loves to people watch! She has a real flirty sense of humor! She figured out that the mirror is only an image and not anther person. She loves to eat her solids at dinnertime and rips the spoon out of my hand to feed herself. She bounces in her exersaucer for hours on end and is such a happy baby! If she could lift her head up, she would be on the brink of crawling, but for now she just sits. Morgan got her first tooth right after Easter. That was matched with another a few days later. Three weeks later, her top teeth poked through. Now she has 6 teeth! As for hair, it is there...somewhere. We are still far from bows and pony tails. It is coming in reddish-strawberryish! She can grab food and feed herself! She can sit up on her own! She loves to talk and make noises. She wrestles with her stuffed animals in her crib before falling asleep each night. Oh, and her giggle, her giggle is quite possibly the best sound in the world!

Riley is now weighing in at over 13 pounds! Though she is smaller, she is still gaining at the exact same rate as her sister and she is 5X her birth weight! She has developed such a fun personality! Her smile truly lights up the room. It goes ear to ear and her mouth opens wide! Her whole body curls up when she smiles and you can see her 2 bottom teeth sticking up! She got her teeth about 2 weeks after her sister! She is our verbal child! She will sit and sing and shriek and yell at the very top of her lungs! She gets especially loud if she knows that someone is watching her!!! She loves to roll around and grab her feet, swaying side to side! She loves to be on her tummy and is starting to make the crawling motions! I wouldn't be surprised if she was the first to crawl...she is such a lightweight! Riley can sit up with the assistance of a bumbo seat or a boppy pillow. She may have a small head, but when she is off balance, she collapses to the ground and ends up on her face! Her sister has taught her how to bounce in her exersaucer, so now she goes bananas! Here are some more fun memories from over the past few months...
