Thanksgiving in Sequim!

We traveled to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving this year! It is always hard to plan around Mike's schedule, so we had our turkey on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, thinking that Mike had to go home for work. We stuffed the turkey for the 1st time this year and it was AMAZING! My mom and I call it our Food Network Thanksgiving. All of the recipes come from our favorite chef's on TV. My mom has there recipes down to an art. She prepped the Art Smith's Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes the week before. We made the stuffing with bacon this year, in hopes of enticing Mike to eat it! We then cooked the turkey all day (tented with foil) and waited for the stuffing to reach 165 degrees. I started getting nervous...it took a bit longer than expected and I kept imagining the dry turkey from my favorite movie, Christmas Vacation. However, that tent kept it moist and yummy! The end result...DELICIOUS! The girls got to indulge in each dish and they made a nice mess! Everyone was stuffed and happy! Well, then the snow came! It was sort of a relief to know that we had already knocked out dinner, so we got to relax and eat left overs! Well, in Sequim, the snow KEPT COMING! We got 11 inches! We were officially snowed in! Note to self...if you are going to get snowed in, make sure you are at Grandma's so that you have plenty of food and extra hands to help with the girls! The roads in Sequim were horrible until Thanksgiving, so Mike was forced to stay in Sequim and wait for some of it to melt. I treasure the moments when weather brings family together...extra days with Daddy and Grandma and Unkie Dave are a treat!

The TWIN'S turn 1!

Our Twin's group had it's 1st Birthday Party! What a hoot! 13 kids (one was sick) with lots to celebrate! We all made it through our first year as parents...the midnight feedings, diapers, chaos, and fun times 2!!! One of the gals in my group put it best...if 2 sets of twins made it to a meeting, it was a success. Just getting the kids packed up, out the door, and to their destination is a celebration! I stopped saying, "sorry, I'm late" very early in the group, because we ALL understood each other and there is no such thing as late when you have 2 babies! I love all of the people that I have met through the group and the lifelong friends that my girls will have! There is nothing better than talking to others who have walked in your shoes.
