November 2012 - Bacon Turkey

We always travel to Sequim for Thanksgiving, but being pregnant means that I get to have all visitors come to me!  So, Grandma Marilyn came on Thanksgiving and we did it up royally!  She had emailed a while back about a turkey wrapped in bacon!  I thought it was a brilliant idea so we went for it!  Let me just say, it was amazing!  We cooked the bird for an hour naked, then we weaved bacon all over (applewood bacon from safeway deli), then we cooked it covered for 4 more hours, turning the bird each hour.  The last 30 minutes we removed the foil to crisp the bacon!  It was spectacular!
