The girls are the biggest kissy faces ever! They LOVE each other!
We used our member ship at the Woodland Park Zoo about once a month to go feed giraffe's, check out the gorilla's, and spy on the Elephants! By the fall, the girls were stroller free and walking the entire zoo by themselves! They love it there!
We spent many afternoons at the park down the street. They mastered the slide, teeter-totter, and by the fall were able to sit on big swings and hang on tight! Of course, they prefer walking off into the nearby woods for an adventure with Kona as our tour guide.
The girls love to dress up...though hats and headbands don't last long. I still get to dress them up to match or coordinate, but they like to add the accessories!
The girls are BEST friends with the Zacharda Triplets! We probably see them the most regularly when no kids are sick or snotty! We also got to visit with the Kress twins!
The girls took swim lessons with Auntie Ally at the Yost Pool in Edmonds! Note to self: afternoon sun is a lot warmer than first thing in the morning! Despite freezing our tushies off in the Seattle summer, the girls continued to gain confidence in the water!
Mike and I took the girls to the Beresford Family Picnic at Lake Easton! How could we resist when my 99...now 100 year old grandma was going! The girls splashed and played in the sunshine!
One of my best friends from college, Katherine, was visiting the US from Germany, so I threw the girls in the car for an overnight in Portland! This is where my mom took us regularly growing up for weekend getaways! It was a lot of fun and so good to reconnect in person!
By the end of summer, the park was a breeze! No more toddling and falling! The girls are so strong and sturdy...I remember thinking about how easy it was going to be next year...not knowing that we were going to put our OWN park in our backyard!
On October 3, 2011 the girls turned 2! They love Elmo and Gymboree, so that is exactly how we celebrated! We had family and friends join us for dancing, singing, and cake!
The month of October kicks off a whole series of events that don't seem to settle until Easter! The girls went on their first Hayride to the pumpkin patch and got to choose their own pumpkin and take it home!
We visited another pumpkin patch for fun and were quite interested in the monster pumpkins!
For Halloween the girls dressed up like Cookie Monster and Elmo! Luckily, they came out with the girly version this year! The girls looked precious in their frilly dresses! They survived a round of trick-or-treating in the cul-de-sac and came home and immediately started swapping candy!
The girls did a great job scooping out their pumpkins this year! Such a mess!
Of course, you don't just have to dress up on Halloween at our house!
After a big night out on Halloween, the girls put on their special jammies, accessorized with headbands and socks, and read some books together! I LIVE FOR THESE MOMENTS!
My mom and I took the girls to Snowflake Lane at Bellevue Square! The girls were mesmerized by the snow, music, drummers, and singing! We will be going every year from now on!
Our first Christmas party was at my Grandma's nursing home! The girls worked the crowd with some piano playing and ornament rearranging!
We had a fabulous friend take professional pictures of the girls! They turned out stunning! Those are their Christmas dresses that got a ton of use this season!
Auntie Ally and I took the girls to see Zoolights at the Point Defiance Zoo! It was amazing and we plan to make the annual trip!
The girls danced their way through Christmas Brunch at the Everett Golf Club! No sitting in Santa's lap this year...instead they danced and sang for Santa and Mrs. Clause! Priceless!
Sometimes, you just need a rest!
One of our very few snow days with Daddy pulling them on their Twin Sled!
2012 begins and so does potty training! So girls, here are your potties...use them if you want! I don't fall for the pressure of potty training...my girls will do it when they are ready and it will be well before kindergarten! Miraculously, we are in the thick of it and the girls are awesome! Morgan is currently 100% potty trained and 10% poop trained and Riley is 50% potty trained and 10 % poop-trained! Pretty good since we only started panties 2 weeks ago! They are also champs at going potty on the road...which is why I would have preferred diapers for another year! :)
Oh well, must let them grow up!
The girls are so arty fartsy! They love to color and draw and pretend to do homework while I tutor! Hopefully, this is a sign of good study habits!
With Spring around the corner, we decided to put our tax money to use...we leveled the backyard and put in a sports court complete with Basketball Hoops! If you know me, you know that this is a dream come true! I want little ballers...no pressure!
We also made an easy transition to toddler beds! They love bed time! We sing, we read, we snuggle and then I get the boot! After I leave, the party begins! First, they decide who is making the first move. Then they decide on the books and toys that should join them and who will get them. Then they laugh, sing, and read at the top of their lungs until Mommy or Daddy breaks up the party!
Sports court means flat surface for wheels!!! Go Riley Go!
Morgan was so determined to learn how to pedal...she is so fast on her trike! Riley just learned this month and is a little speed demon also!
The girls love their new yard and I love the freedom they have! They love to walk around the yard talking about the trees, listening to the sounds, and, I won't lie, they love looking for dog poop for mommy to pick up!
No blog post would be complete without a picture of the Broby shirt. Now, I am committed to bringing up well-dressed, clean girls...that means I kinda want control of their clothing choices! Well, Morgan has a soft spot for this shirt! We went and saw the live show of Yo Gabba Gabba in the fall and we are hooked! I bought each of the girls a Broby shirt to wear to the show! When Morgan puts this shirt on, their is a confidence that comes with it! She beams, she jumps, she prances around! At some point everyday we wear our Broby shirt...preferably to bed or around the house! Needless to say, keeping those 2 shirts clean keep my entire laundry routine going!
We attempted to conquer our fear of the Easter Bunny! We still won't stand in front of him for a picture, we must be able to see the bunny. We will high-five, hug, and laugh at the bunny, but we must be in complete control! The girls love to just stand back and let out big shrieks and smiles!
We have rediscovered our love for quarter machines! My favorite date night with the girls when Mike works late is to pack them in the car, go on all the quarter machines at the mall, and then share a giant frozen yogurt with mini m&m's on top!
The girls love picnics outside when the weather is nice!
The girls and I completed our first 5K together on St Patrick's Day!
We had Easter at my Dad's house! The girls hunted for eggs! Morgan would find an egg, open it, unwrap the candy, eat it, and move on! Riley carefully gathered each egg in her basket!
Of course, everyone needs a pit stop while hunting eggs...it is exhausting!
Little did we know, the sports court was just the beginning of our backyard remodel! My Dad's neighbors had given us an enormous play structure a year ago and we had never put it together. When Mike's parents came to visit, Malcolm took one look at the wood and said we had to build the play structure! After two LONG days of non-stop work, the girls now have a beautiful play structure with 2 slides, swings, tire swing, sand box, and 3 houses! Spoiled? Absolutely!
The girls love sitting in each others laps!
This was the icing on the cake for the yard! We ordered an airplane teeter-totter for the girls! We now have a backyard oasis with tons of memories yet to be created!
Now, I am making the commitment to more consistent blogging! I would say once a week is ideal! You can thank my mom for getting me back on board! This was always important to me and this blog is for the girls to have forever!!! Looking forward to sharing our many adventures with all of you!!!
